Frequently Asked Questions

What type of training do you use?

We used balanced training methods! balanced training includes the use of all four quadrants of training (positive and negative reinforcement and punishment). This means we will use both food, praise, toys, and other motivational methods along with correction tools like electronic collars, prong collars, and more. The goal with this is create clear communication and boundaries with you and your dog. Just like with people it is hard to communicate with only sayin "yes" or only saying "no"; using a mixture of the two makes it easier on your pup to understand exactly what you're asking for!

What is a e-collar and how is it different from a shock collar?

An e-collar or electronic collar is a collar with use on your dog to communicate "no" or "not quite" to them. It uses TENS unit technology to contract the muscles in your dogs neck to make a slightly uncomfortable feeling. The goal is to associate this feeling with things you don't want your dog to do like when the push ahead of you in a heel, jump on you or others, and so much more. What makes and e-collar so much different from a shock collar is the amount of levels you can use and the intensity jumps from each level. We use Educator Technology e collars which have levels from 0-100! Every time you climb a level it is only slightly more intense. The goal is never to absolutely fry your dog for doing something bad, its just to encourage in to stop making the choice when given a stim. A shock collar on the other hand will likely only have less levels (0-10, 0-20, etc.) and even if it does have higher levels the jump from number to number will not be even. This type of tool causes a lack of consistency and functions as a more drastic punishment for less detrimental behaviors.

Are private lessons or a board and train better?

This is completely dependent on your lifestyle and what you're expecting out of your dog! I always say if you don't have the time or ability to put in the work private lessons are not for you. While private lessons are the cheaper option it comes with more effort on your part to see success. It is you're responsibility to manage your training for the week you have to work on it while I create a training plan to help you and your dog succeed. If your dog is struggling with more serious behaviors like intense reactivity or aggression and you are struggling to handle it this may also not be suitable for private lessons. If you have the time and physical capability to work with your dog though, private lessons can be a more affordable practical choice for you. On the other hand, if you have too much on your plate but still need help curbing your dog's behaviors a board and train might be your perfect option. With a board and train your dog goes to boot camp for a couple of weeks and once they come home you just have to maintain the training! Training, at the end of the day, is never a quick fix and you will always have to put in some effort with whatever option you choose; but I will be there every step of the way to guide you through whatever you'll need.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes we do! We offer adjustable payment plans to your need as long as full payment is given before the end of whatever program you choose!
