About Me
Hi! My name is Heidi and I would love to work with you and your pup! My first dog, Myla, was truly what you would call a “perfect” dog. She required no training and listened to every word I said without me having to beg for anything. She is where I gained my love for dogs, she was loyal and devoted to me it was like something I’d never had before. She unfortunately passed away at a young age and to cope I got one of my current boys, Sherlock. He was a mess to say the least. He pulled, he barked, he was generally just a menace to society and I couldn’t take it. I decided that something needed to be done so I started training him. Somewhere along the way I fully fell in love with the process, seeing how and why dogs ticked made me feel whole. Along with this Sherlock was becoming the dog of my dreams, he pushed what I thought a relationship with a dog could be beyond what I thought possible. I decided then this is what I wanted to do with my life, help others find this feeling.
I took any and all opportunities to work with dogs after this. My highschool offered a vet science program where I became a certified vet assistant by the time I graduated. Throughout this process I kennel teched at a local vets office and eventually ended up being receptionist there! During my time in high school and at the vets office I learned so much about how to properly approach medical emergencies and properly care for dogs!
Right after is where I got my first training job, just like I had known for years, this is right where I belonged. I got my second dog, Sett, with the intention of protection training and dabbling in multiple different sports while I worked there. He’s a Belgian Tervuren and has taught me how to deal with truly difficult dogs. He struggles with genetic aggression and fear and through a lot of time, medication, and training he has become one of the most lovely dogs I’ve ever met.
In 2023, I took a huge step and decided to go to Highland’s School for Dog Trainers in Alabama. I spent three months working with a plethora of dogs with different issues and police k9s. I left there and started working as an independent contractor for yet another training company for two years where I trained small dogs, dogs reactivity, dogs with aggression, and so much more. During this time I attended many shadowing programs with well known trainers like Sean O'Shea with The Good Dog, Tom Davis with Upstate Canine Academy, Kate Stankowski with KANE9, and Jeff Gellman with Solid K9!
That all leads me to now, having my own training business! My goal at the end of the day is to show owners how training your dog can unlock the most incredible relationship with them. One where both of you can feel confident and secure with each other. I want you to ACTUALLY enjoy your dog instead of having it be a constant battle to be able to do anything with them. I understand how taxing it can be to love your dog but not enjoy doing the most simple things with them and I want to show you it doesn’t have to be that way.
